Masterson’s Tavern , positioned in the vibrant core of Moonee Ponds, brands itself as a fashionable, contemporary hangout, but my most recent experience at this establishment quickly devolved into an unforgettable, terrible experience. While the bar may appear inviting from the outside , what I encountered behind its doors was disgraceful and unfit for any venue.
The State of Affairs: Unhygienic and Disregarded
From the moment I crossed the threshold, it was evident that upkeep was not a priority at this bar . The ground was covered in grime , and a foul smell of uncleaned spills and dirty bathrooms polluted the entire establishment . With a smell of a mixture of excrement , old age and sickness . The bar area , which should be the centerpiece of any pub, was littered with unwashed glassware and litter that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks . The bathroom was in even a truly awful state—overflowing , with a cracked flush mechanism and walls covered in what I can only assume was human waste .
It wasn’t just a one-off bad night either. After reading through multiple accounts and chatting with the community, it seems that the standard of sanitation (or lack thereof) at Masterson’s is a here well-known flaw . Many visitors have reported spotting critters darting across the bar area and signs of rats in the basement . For a business that caters to patrons, these issues are entirely inappropriate and raise serious concerns about the integrity of the food and drinks .

As I asked around, I was horrified to find accusations against him involving inappropriate advances, with multiple women alleging that he of sending indecent material . Described as disturbingly assertive and read more disrespectful , his actions has created an intimidating space for women who visit Masterson’s. His presence at the bar often appeared as that of a lurking threat than a genial proprietor .
